Family Philanthropic Planning
Where do you feel called to give?
Geography isn't just logistics, it's a statement of what you believe and who you're connected to. This exercise helps map your giving footprint.
Step 1: You'll see a set of concentric rings representing closeness of connection, not just physical distance.
Step 2: You'll place three circles: Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary. These represent where you feel most drawn to give.
Step 3: After each placement, you'll answer a few quick questions. Your answers help the group see what's driving everyone's choices.
There are no wrong answers. Disagreement across your group is expected, and valuable.

Before you map
Understanding the rings
Each ring represents closeness of connection, not just geographic distance. You can have a deep connection to a place far away, and feel little pull toward something nearby.
Step 1 of 2 - Reflection
Take a moment before you map.
"When you imagine the change your giving makes in the world, where do you picture it happening? Is it a specific neighborhood? A region you know well? Somewhere that shaped your family? A global crisis that keeps you up at night?"
Write your first instinct and why. (Optional)
Place Your Giving Footprint
Drag each circle onto the ring that best represents your connection. A quick question set will appear after each placement.

How this works
You'll place three circles on a map of concentric rings. Each ring represents a depth of connection, not just physical distance.
Place your Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary circles on the ring that best fits where you feel drawn to give. After each placement, answer three quick questions about what's behind your choice.
There are no right answers. Your facilitator will use the group map to start a conversation, not to reach a verdict.
